"Granny" Character Model


This "Granny" character took the longest to create out of all my models, but I feel I learned the most and overcame many challenges while working on this human character.  After re-creating the body and head several times, this is what I came up with in the end.  Originally the character was to be more vile and skinny, but we decided to make the character more along the lines of a stereotypical grandma, and let the props such as the vest, boonie hat, and shotgun give her a menacing look behind a rather stereotypical character, something that the audience might not expect.

I thoroughly enjoyed creating a weapon that would be intimidating and over-the top ridiculous looking for a grandma to be carrying, something you wouldn't expect out of a "Red-Riding Hood" granny at the least!  It is a very high-poly model, but is set up to be normal-mapped in the future.  All parts were modeled separately and later attached, although I am keeping all my past files on hand in order to make changes in the future if need be.

3d Model : Bedroom Dresser

This model was created as another bedroom prop.  As this was one of my later props, I felt confident in easily being able to follow the reference quickly.  However, I still felt I missed a few details in the front that could have better defined the drawers.  While the object is detailed, within 3ds max it has a history of the original low-poly box saved, allowing for a normal map of the high-poly details to be created when I begin working with them.

3D Model - Deer Head and Trophy Shield




 In this sheet, the shield and the deer head are two separate objects.  The main challenge I had here was basically getting the deer's head correctly shaped with the minimal references I had.  While it was going to be a prop and not an animated object, I took the time to set up proper edge loops for eyebrows and the mouth, at least at some length, in order to be able to go back to the head model to refine it easier for animation.

.50 BMG Bullet + Bullet Belt Feeder

This bullet was created along with the bullet belt feed around it as two models, then attached togheter as one.  The main challenge here for me was making sure the hole in the bullet belt feed was as close to a circle as possible, while not creating too many extra or messy edge loops.

3D Model - Basic Boonie Hat

This was a simple boonie hat created in 3DS Max.  The hat size in the "actual size" image is smaller than what it should be, but it fit well on the character model it was used for.  Challenges with this included getting a believable shape for the hat in general.

3D Model - Ammo Vest


This was a ammo vest created as a part of props for a future animation based off of 'Red Riding Hood', each ammo pack has two levels of editable polys, allowing for the higher detailed geometry to be used as a normal map for the future.  Triangle count includes the high-poly ammo pouches.
